Gibbon Project in Phuket

Gibbon Rehabilitation Program in Phuket is worth a visit. It must be around 12 years or more since we last visited the centre. The work the volunteers do there is fantastic. The nice lady at the entrance was very passionate and explained all the centre was doing in the plight for these primates and their safety.

This is worth a visit, and a reminder of why wild animals should be left to live their lives in their nature habitat. We were told that a majority of the gibbons are taken from unscrupulous people using these poor creatures as attractions for tourists.
If you would like to volunteer at GRP or adopt a Gibbon go to the web site or email them.

email: grp@gibbonproject.org
They would look forward to hear from you.

The National Park (BangPae), this where the GRP site is located. Unfortunately the entrance fee is two tiered, one for tourists and one for Thais. If you work here in Thailand remember not just to bring your driving license, but proof of the company you work for, this is a must. I gave in my driving license and then work ID, the my son in law ( who is Thai produced his work ID, he works for the Danish Embassy, for a free entry) remember the westerns who work here pay Thai Tax so lets make sure we have the benefits of the same prices the locals have, sore point maybe, but not all here are on the vast sums paid to expats.

Grafitti

This blog on Graffiti will be an ongoing project, with pictures and video of the art form found in location around South East Asia. I hope you will comment and add interesting stuff yourself.

Graffiti or Street Art as it sometimes called is found in most usual places and the colors are vibrant. These colors are what causes to viewer to turn their head and glance at the art works. At the moment I am spending Christmas in Phuket, searching the streets for graffiti.

Art or Vandalism? Well which one do you agreed with? Do we always think the artist who manufactured the graffiti with a can of spray are into destruction of property of others? Questions that spring to mind when the word graffiti is mentioned in any context. When the master of graffiti “Bansky” is mentioned the media and others take a different view. Why? Celebs own his work, Brad Pitt, Christina Aguilera ( Voice Coach) and a number of others, so they condone graffiti, yes? Keep It Spotless – $1,870,000 a Banksy went for that much money, so someone thinks it art.

Travel Photography

What is travel photography? Is the genre about taking photographs of tourist attractions, holiday snaps or is it more? With the onset of digital cameras, travel photography is everywhere, in adverts to part with your money going on luxurious locations, to seating in your armchair and daydreaming of what could be you. Professional photographers, need to up their work as the market demands excellent pictures for magazines advertising. Now that amateur photographers are able to create photographs, at times can exceed to pro’s work. This all makes an interesting point to discuss in a blog at a later date.

Travel photography is all about the photo, not whether you are a pro, amatuer, beginner or a casual photographer, the picture taken is important to all. So it all depends on what you want for your travel photography.
